Andrew G. White is a partner in the firm. Since earning his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois and Juris Doctorate from Ohio Northern University Andrew has focused his practice on estate planning, trust and probate estate administration, taxation, and real estate. With a background in agriculture Andrew routinely counsels farm families, businesses, local and out of state landowners, farm managers, and trustees.
Andrew is a frequent speaker around the state for both the Illinois State Bar Association and the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education. Often the goal of talking to groups or just sitting down with individual clients is to educate them of the need for proper business succession planning and estate planning.
Proper planning is necessary not only to save estate taxes, but to insure the assets pass as the client desires in such a way that protects the family from future problems. Individuals owe it to themselves and their families to protect what they have built and plan for these issues rather than leave the issues to loved ones. Real estate is commonly the base of these client’s assets and brings with it certain unique opportunities for income and estate tax planning.
Whether it is providing consultation to buyers or sellers, planning for an Internal Revenue Code 2032A special use election, establishing an entity to own the land, negotiating a utility easement or wind-farm, executing a tax deferred 1031 exchange, negotiating a new farm lease, or consulting a family on the settlement of an estate, specific expertise in Illinois agricultural law is essential.
Andrew has served as chairman of the Illinois Bar Association Agricultural Law Section Council. He is also an active member of the Board of Directors for the Morgan County Fair Association, a member of the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln Professional Advisors Society and a Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau member.
A native of Jacksonville, Illinois Andrew now lives in Springfield with his wife Kristin and his son Connor.
